- Q.What is the ISIC card?
- A. The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is the only internationally recognized proof of your status as a main course student of the respective institution, issued in nearly 130 countries. - Q.What documents do I need to apply for a card?
- A.The required documents differ depending on the card you
wish to obtain.
- ・Student ID card - Name, date of birth, date of issue, and expiration date must be written on the card (both sides may be required).
- ・Certificate of enrollment issued within the last 3 months
- ・If you are currently on a leave of absence, a certificate of leave of absence.
- ・If you are planning to study abroad, an image of the admission certificate of the school where you will be studying (must include conditions of acceptance) (*This applies to those who wish to have the certificate issued in the name of the school where they will be studying)

- Q. I purchased a card, do I need to activate it?
- A. If your card is not currently activated, you can activate it online by visiting the Card Activation page.If you have an ISIC, IYTC, or ITIC card that also functions as a payment card (credit, debit, or prepaid card), for security reasons, please always provide the payment card number and CVV code when uploading the front image. The card is valid for one year from the date of issue. (From the date of issue to the end of the same month of

- Q.I lost my card. What should I do?
- A. Generally, ISIC cards are non-refundable and non-transferable, so you will need to purchase a new card. Please click here to purchase a new card.
- Q.Can I use my card as an identification card?
- A. The ISIC card serves as proof of student identity and can be used to identify you in various locations in multiple counties around the world. However, different countries may require different forms of personal identification. Therefore, please check local regulations before traveling. Note that ISIC cards are not accepted as identification in the U.S. and only government-issued identification cards are accepted in all regions of the country.
- Q.How much does a card cost?

- Q.What is a "Regular Course Student"?
- A.
"Regular Student" is a student enrolled in a degree or diploma program.
The standard for issuing a diploma in Japan is for students who take classes every week for at least one year, and who are eligible for student discounts (fares, commuter passes, etc.) on JR and other public transportation.
Correspondence course students (university, junior college, high school) may be issued only for "Regular Course Student" and "Enrolled in All Subjects".
※Short-term course students such as research students, auditing students, elective students, credited students, and special course students other than Regular Course students are not eligible for issuance.
- Q.I am planning to go on to higher education, can I still be issued a card?
- A.
No. You are not a student until you graduate from school and start a new
school.
(The International Student Identity Card is issued for the period of time that the school certifies your enrollment.)
It cannot be issued with a certificate of acceptance.
Once you graduate from each school and enter a new school, your ISIC Card will be valid until graduation. Cards with subsequent expiration dates will be issued after you have enrolled in the new school.
